Butler County took the first step Wednesday toward transforming 215 North Duffy Road into a senior center and offices for the Butler County Agency on Aging.

County commissioners have approved a $137,682 deal with Moshier Studio to design the conversion of the building, which the county purchased in February, into “a senior center, supporting outreach programs and various county administrative offices” .

The Butler Township property, the former home of the Butler Health and Racquet Club, will also house “bathrooms and laundry services” in the existing basement mudroom. The county also hopes to add a kitchen and expand a mezzanine into an open office space.

This story was updated at 4 p.m. May 11, 2022 to remove mention of “homeless services,” an item that was incorrectly listed in documents provided to the Butler Eagle. The senior center will not provide services to the homeless.
