New nightclub and young adult activity center open in downtown Casper
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – The Void is set to open downtown as Casper’s first young adult nightclub. The new location won’t just be a place where high school students can party. The Void will also offer workshops and study spaces. These workshops will run for a week and teach those interested in everything from set design and stage design to AutoCAD and even some culinary arts workshops.
The Void is an idea created by three partners, two of whom are just high school seniors. They recognized the need for a safe place for students to go after school and on weekends.
“I’m still in high school but every weekend it seems like my friends and I are, what are we going to do this weekend? What can we do at 10:00 at night? Really nothing but a few places that stay open a bit later, but they’re only open until around 11 or 12,” said Trent Campbell, one of The Void’s founding partners.
All projects and courses offered at The Void will be taught by licensed instructors. Many classes will also come with credentials so that those who participate are certified in that area or type of project. Prices for these classes will be based on the cost of the instructor, so if the instructor is willing to volunteer their time for free classes, there will be no cost to these students.
Breckyn Burke-Simmons, the other young founder of The Void, said: “At the end of the day, these workshops are there to provide opportunities for these children. We want to make sure they take something away from these workshops. Of course, it’s something interesting, but we want to offer them this option so that they can express themselves through these workshops.
Alongside these classes, The Void will also host video games and study areas. For now, they have three TVs installed for their gaming spaces, but they also plan to add three more after their ongoing renovation. They will also have a designated area for virtual reality games.
For the events and parties The Void plans to host, young adults will be tasked with finding artists and DJs. They will fly in these acts from all over the country. They will also serve soft drinks and food for these events.
They plan to hold the grand opening on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23. The grand opening will be events for young people to introduce the site and the video game spaces.
