authenticity meets modernity at W Costa Navarino • Hotel Designs

With an architectural design led by renowned Greek architects Tombazis and Associates, W Costa Navarino draws inspiration from the region’s traditional architecture with cobbled paths, monolithic buildings and stone towers creating the feeling of a coastal village Greek. Using local materials, Costa Navarino’s dedication to sustainable practices is reflected in the hotel’s timeless design, unified in native greenery and planted rooftops overlooking the sea.

All interiors in rooms, suites, and villas celebrate the heritage of Greek craftsmen with a palette of neutral tones that are sometimes accompanied by pops of color. Infused with the unexpected and thoughtful design elements of W Hotels, the resort’s interior design, including public spaces and culinary plaza – Platía – was led by London-based, globally-focused studio MKV Design. Modern yet refined interpretations of traditional craftsmanship can be seen through the lighting and flooring, referencing centuries-old Greek basket weavers and leather chairs that offer a contemporary take on the regional art of saddlery.

“Faced with the incomparable beauty of the Mediterranean, we are delighted to introduce W Hotels to Greece with the opening of W Costa Navarino,” said Benoit Racle, Vice President, Brand Management, W Hotels Worldwide. “From recycled materials to bioclimatic design, W Costa Navarino features sophisticated architecture that builds on the coastal enclave’s broader sustainability efforts, offering international travelers and local tastemakers the opportunity to capture the energy of Mediterranean culture. World-class dining and immersive programming celebrate authentic Mediterranean culture, promising an unforgettable and one-of-a-kind experience at W Costa Navarino.

The unique architectural design of the Parelía destination beach club as well as the Platía was designed by Tombazis and Athens-based K-Studio, the latter also spearheading the interiors of Parelía. The interior design of the sunset restaurant and bar, Between, was created by Interior Design Laboratorium. Inspired by the region and Greek heritage, the custom-designed W totem was made with reclaimed wood from old fishing boats, representing the notion of seafaring.

Setting the tone as a music and arts hub, the passionate personality of the W Hotels comes to life through art and music through the lush gardens. With its original musical lineup, patrons can enjoy a diverse and genre-defying program including funky house, hot disco, afro-house, tribal and neo-soul. The Escape will host international and local DJs and musicians each season, such as Alex Nude and Valeron & Band, to complete its roster of resident DJs, including Ukrainian Rie Kiriiaka, Greek-Colombian DJ Montana Cruz and Greek Vasilis Georgakopoulos.

True to its brand, the W Costa Navarino stirs curiosity with contemporary art throughout the hotel, meant to spark conversation among guests. The curation of the artworks is led by visual artist and curator Poka-Yio and a team of young artists from the Athens School of Fine Arts LAB12. It is closely tied to notions of inclusivity and culture, aiming to have a deeper purpose and act as a way to explore and escape, surprise and challenge and ultimately contribute to what the W Costa stands for. The resort is home to a number of culinary outlets, ensuring that – whatever the mood and whatever the hour – guests will have something that promises to please the palate. The W Lounge, in the heart of The Escape, offers a globally-inspired menu as well as a range of locally-inspired palate-cleansing sprays, appetizers and eco-friendly cocktails. Platía is a playful take on the traditional Greek food market and is a destination for breakfast, daytime cafes, or a casual group dinner in the evening. The space evokes the informal buzz and energy of a market with four separate ‘take away’ outlets. The Café celebrates coffee culture with a daily selection of ground coffee and a roastery serving all varieties of specialties, in addition to fresh juices and snacks throughout the day, while the kitchen features an open kitchen for morning breakfast and hosts chefs and pop-concepts.

With a raw food-based menu concept, Between will offer cocktails and light bites that celebrate the purity of flavor and aroma found in the natural form of ingredients – including oysters, clams and top quality caviar. Accompanied by live DJ sets and a cocktail menu focused on seasonality and simplicity, the aptly named Between will be the perfect setting to sip a craft cocktail as the sun dips below the horizon.
