KL Venning Slaters appeared in Grand Designs: House of the Year

A CUMBRIAN company made its first appearance on television.

KL Vennings Slaters, Penrith appeared on the Channel 4 show, Grand Designs. On the show, host Kevin McCloud reflects on some incredible homes across the UK.

Each week four Royal Institute of British Architects awarded houses will appear on the show, and then the final week one house will be crowned House of the Year.

The family business, led by Lisa and Mark Elliot, is a 40-year-old roofing company that offers a range of services including heritage roofing, slate, stone paving, tiling and plumbing. .

Lisa was recommended to the Grand Designs team to talk about her expertise in roof sequencing and traditional roofing.

Lisa originally didn’t want to appear on TV and instead her husband and co-manager Mark would be speaking and explaining the roofing and slate process.

But instead, the team were keen for Lisa to talk about the show and explain her craft.

Filming for Lisa and her crew took place on their current project at Lytham St Annes.

Since the appearance, Lisa said she has received many positive comments from people who have watched the show.

On the reaction she has received since the show, Lisa said: “It was absolutely brilliant, it’s brilliant publicity and like I say it’s a tough job running your own business and we have all worked a lot. ”

Lisa said that since the program and throughout the pandemic, the business has been “absolutely inundated” with customers.
